Camp Update No 2
Friday January 5 to Monday January 8, 2006: |

T’was the night before Friday and all through the camp…not a child was stirring…not even a bat. The tents were set up on the ground with some care and then came the storm that tore it from there! The kids they all scattered… cause their tents were destroyed by the cyclones’ kabooms! The clothes were wet and the spirits a bit moist but we persevered and cleaned up nice. We tried to save Johnny but he flew away…sorry Mom and Dad it was such a sad day.
So after the storm our spirits were raised as baptisms followed in just a few days. Ok I’m way over rhyming now! The family that was baptized went by their mother’s maiden name of Mulligan which can be trace back to an Irish heritage. Their parents migrated to New Zealand during the Potato Famine on giant inflatable rubber ducks and just barely escaped the voyage alive. That’s not true. But the Mulligans really were baptized and the local church and campers gathered around as the Kids started their wet decent into the “solwota” or “Salt water.” They came up reborn in Christ and are now washed clean of the old and refreshed in Christ. |

Lori brought a great word on the Holy Spirit after an afternoon focused on the character and nature of Jesus Christ. The word included: Development of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and gifts of the Holy Spirit. There were two campers who gave their life to the Lord that night. |

Saturday turned out to be a day of great breakthrough. Action groups got together and were split into two gender-separated groups. That means the boys were in one group and the girls in the other. Or in Australian surfer dialect, “The chicks and dudes were separate.” The groups discussed issues of sin that are relevant to this generation. The topics ranged from stealing and lying to various forms of sexual sin, relationships, and impurity. The campers were very transparent as they opened up to God and others about struggles in their life. The time ended with a joyful finale of worship, praise and celebration.

| The celebration extended into that evening as the camp was pleasantly surprised by the arrival of a church outreach team from Sydney. That’s in Australia if you don’t know. That evening the camp greeted the newcomers with special performances from “Tony Timberlake” and other dancers, singers, and worship leaders. It was a fun night had by all and included items such as: “Spirit blong God” and “Spirit blong God…again” and then the remixed version of none other than “Spirit Blong God” which included extra jumping, shouting and dancing. |
 |
| The week ended on Sunday…as usual, but for us it was a powerful evening of commissioning before outreach. The service began with a time of worship, which included Francesco blowing a conch shell seven times to representing the fall of the walls of Jericho. Once blown, the group let out a tremendous war cry to the Fathers delight and prepared their hearts for the outreach to come. The Spiritual Life group received a word in intercession that Gods fire would fall in our service…and it really did! Each outreach team was prayed for and given prophetic words and words of encouragement. As the prayers were lifted up for each group the presence of God was sensed in the room. One staff sensed the presence of Angels in the corners, windows, and rafters of the building eagerly awaiting our next step into outreach. |
